Welcome to the 2023/2024 school year! 

Foothill Knolls Academy of Innovation is built upon serving our diverse community. Education is a collective endeavor between students, parents, educators, and community members. We believe in empowering our students through pedagogy such as project-based learning, designing thinking, and inquiry with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to engage them in relevant learning and the development of critical thinking skills. We focus on expanding our students’ natural curiosity and their ability to connect to themselves and others around the world. As we begin our ninth as a STEAM school, I want you to know that at the core of the #FKexpereince is creativity and innovation. I’m proud of our community and our dedication. This year, our students were actively engaged in the Design Thinking Process. Through Design Thinking, our students have the opportunity to tinker, create, play, and experience many activities such as; Virtual retellings, Coding, Rocketry and Flight, Video Production, Entrepreneurship, Creative Writing, Engineering, Computer Technologies, Inquiry, and Research, Sustainability, and much more. Through Design Thinking, our students will learn how to thrive in the 21st-century economy by gaining an understanding of what businesses are looking for in employees of the future. They will continue to engage in a rigorous project-based learning curriculum that will enhance their critical thinking skills, confidence, and empathy. All of which will prepare them for a global community.

We have new members to our team this year. Please help me welcome our New Assistant Principal Dr. Dana Lebenthal, School Psychologist Abby Muro and teachers Tisha Cate, Aliyah Haffner, Christine Guerra and our new resident substitute Nadine Kaiss, Paraeducators Donna (Carol) Brewer, Serena Ramirez, and Rachel Smiderle. All of our new team members bring special talents to our team. We can’t wait to see what experiences they will create for our students. We also encourage you to become an integral part of our school program this year. Our PTA is committed to building community and providing opportunities for you to participate in many events throughout the year. It is important to us that we create a shared partnership between school, home, and community. Stop in the office to find out more about all the ways you can contribute to our campus and community. We are here to answer any questions or concerns you might have regarding your child’s educational program.
